5th Southeast Asian Vegetarian Congress (November 2012)

Dear All Friends:

Warm welcome to the 5th Southeast Asian Vegetarian Congress (SEAVC2012). as organized by the Thai Vegetarian Association (TVA). SEAVU is a network group of 4 geographically neighboring countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. It originally started by 2007 in Batam Island by Vegetarian Societies of Indonesia, Malaysia and  Singapore with an objective to strengthen our Southeast Asian Vegetarian true friendship, close relationship and harmonious unity.

The SEAVU will organize the Congress (SEAVC) every 1 or 2 years in different member countries.  I was fortunate to attend and gave a lecture at  the 3rd SEAVC held by Indonesia Vegetarian Society in Jakarta from 24 to 25 May, 2008 and also at the 4th SEAVC,  19-21 March 2010, in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. In Medan, Thai Vegetarian Association (TVA) and TVA of Chiang Mai were trusted and proposed to be host the 5th SEAV Congress.  We feel honored and happy to hold this Congress during 23- 25 November 2012 and the venue will be at Win Place Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The theme is “Go Veg for a Better World”.  Our main purpose is to promote, distribute and expand vegetarianism for our healthier and happier SE Asian world.

The SEAVC2012 program will be a feature of the Congress by inviting outstanding authorities to speak in their respective fields.  This congress will shows and exemplifies our Southeast Asian vegetarian movement on our human health, our fellow animal rights and our mother earth protection as well as to exemplify our strength of SEAVU and ASEAN community which will be kept up and last forever.  The participants will learn some new knowledge and have opportunities to share their experience and ideas in the Congress.

Chiang Mai,  over 750-years-old Lanna old capitol,  has been suitably selected to the venue of  SEAVC2012,  not famous for the natural beauty and traditional culture for tourists around the world,  Chiang Mai is also popular as the vegetarian city for the veggie people.  You can easily find any vegetarian (Jay or Mung-sa-vi-rat in Thai) restaurants at any corner. Moreover, the Congress has been designed and organized  2 days just before the most famous full-moon Loy Krathong” light festival in the mid of cool November night which is rarely but the most fantastic especially in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  So on November 25th, all the Congress participants can enjoy this traditional and cultural experience and have fun.  Hope that you would not miss this annual and special occasion!

Looking forward to seeing and welcoming you at the the 5th SEAVC, 23-25 November 2012 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. For more updated information of the Congress, please visit the website: www.seavc2012.org

With our best regards,
