Method

  1. PREPARATION
  2. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of chili sauce, 1 tablespoon of vegetarian oyster sauce
  3. 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon of five-spice, and a pinch of freshly ground pepper. Then, using a whisk, dissolve the sauce.
  4. INSTRUCTIONS
  5. Step 1: Stir-fry the Mushrooms
  6. Stir-fry mushrooms: Heat a little bit of cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the gray oyster and wood ear mushrooms and season with 2 tablespoons of the prepared sauce.
  7. Continue to stir rapidly until the mushrooms are golden brown.
  8. Step 2: Make the Tofu
  9. Rice paper or rice sheet that has been hydrated (if the rice paper is too thin, you can use 2 sheets). Cut the tofu in half and spread the mushroom filling evenly in the center. Cover it with the other half.
  10. Wrapping rice paper similarly to how spring rolls are wrapped. Freeze it for approximately an hour before deep-frying it on all sides.
  11. Step 3: Simmer the Topping Sauce
  12. Heat a little bit of oil in a saucepan, then add the remaining prepared sauce and 4 tablespoons of water. Bring the sauce to a boil, stirring constantly until it thickens, then remove it from the heat.
  13. Step 4: Finish and serve
  14. Arrange the tofu in a single layer on a platter; you can split it in half or leave it whole. Then drizzle the sauce over the top and serve over cabbage, cucumber, carrot pickles, red pepper, and brown rice cake.
