Byndoor, Karnataka, Nov.1 : Sthitaprajna, Vegan Life Centre (An International Vegan Centre for Yoga, Meditation, Relaxation and Rejuvenation) was declared open Sunday, Nov.1 2009 (World Vegan Day) near Byndoor in a picturesque locality, on the footsteps of Western Ghats, a world hotspot of bio-diversity by Vegan Dilip Bafna, Managing Trustee, Animal Rights Fund, Bangalore. A number of dignitaries, vegans and vegan/ yoga enthusiasts from India and abroad have participated and witnessed the occasion.
Among the VIPs who attended are Dr.Rama Mohan H - Director, Karnataka Bank, Dr.G.G.Sabhahit – Managing Trustee of Idagunji Sri Siddivianayaka Temple, Mr. B.Jagannatha Shetty - IFS-Rtd (Retired Chief Conservator of Forests) and Mr.Shashibhushana Hegade – Vice President of Karnataka BJP Yuva Morcha. All the VIPs were in unison in appreciating the need of such an institution which promotes peace and non-violence and praising the efforts of Vegan Shankar Narayan, the founder of Sthitaprajna. Mr.Shashibhushana Hegade also suggested that Sthitaprajna should endeavour to provide degrees and diplomas in ahimsa or non-violence in association with universities and colleges to help proliferate the message in a systematic way.
After the inauguration, there was an enthralling violin concert by the duo of Master Tejas Iyengar and Master Raghava Iyer and their troupe who came all the way from Nagpur to support the event.
Sthitaprajna, the vegan centre is a place, to study and practice all aspects of yoga and veganism (ahimsa or non-violence) as a part of yoga. It is an arm of Indian Vegan Society to practice veganism holistically. Indian Vegan Society is a member of the International Vegetarian Union (www.ivu.org)
