Un equipo de investigadores en los Estados Unidos y Finlandia ha informado que en lugares donde el consumo de leche es más alto, las mujeres tienden a experimentar una caída drástica de la fertilidad en relación con la edad. Con la excepción de algunas poblaciones en el norte de Europa y sus descendientes, la mayoría de los adultos pierden la habilidad de digerir la lactosa (el azúcar de la leche).
