 **Sabias que** nuestra supervivencia depende de los arboles? Desde 1950 la tierra ha perdido mas de la mitad de sus árboles. Para limpiar el aire de la contaminación de automóviles y de la industria necesitamos una cubierta de arboles del tamaño de los Estados Unidos. Al destruir los bosques, el Homo Sapiens esta suicidándose.

 **Sabias que** un árbol libera como 100 galones de humedad cada día? Un acre de arboles puede absorber el monoxido de carbón producido por 50 carros en marcha por 12 horas? Un acre de arboles de aguacate pueden producir 10,000 libras de este delicioso alimento, un acre de bananas 24,000 libras?

 **Sabias que** la razón de talar los bosques tropicales es para producir carne mas barata para los EU? Treinta por ciento del oxigeno del mundo viene del los bosques tropicales de la Amazonas. Los arboles purifican el aire que respiramos, traen lluvia, proveen combustible y refugio para el hombre, animales, pájaros e insectos, madera, papel y empleos para miles de personas, embellecen y perfuman el ambiente. Puedes imaginarte algo mas hermoso y beneficioso que un árbol?

 **Sabias que** se estima que el 90% de las tierras de cultivo en Inglaterra son usadas para producir alimento para los animales? Que Inglaterra importa de India y otros países del tercer mundo grano como alimento de engorda, que podría fácilmente alimentar a 13,000,000 niños indigentes.

 **Sabias que** Costa Rica ha deforestado mas de su tierra que cualquier otro país Centro Americano pero que ahora tiene mas Bosques Nacionales y áreas verdes protegidas que cualquier otro país de Centro América?

 **Sabias que** el árbol de plátanos en el Este se le llama Arbol del Paraíso (Musa Paradisiaca)? Porque el plátano cuesta tan poco hay una tendencia a pensar que tiene poco valor nutrimental. Pero es al contrario. Es alto en potasio y Vitamina A y tiene grandes cantidades de fósforo, magnesio y Vitamina C. En los países tropicales el plátano ha tenido un notable rol en el sostenimiento de millones de personas.

 **Sabias que** la contaminación, erosión, desertificación, destrucción de bosques, calentamiento global, el agotamiento de la capa de ozono, cualquiera de estos siniestros pueden, si son ignorados, terminar con las formas de vida desarrolladas? Hasta cuando despertará la gente a la necesidad darle prioridad absoluta a esto si queremos ganar la "batalla del planeta'?
