También opinaba que este cargo requiere a una persona más dinámica para afrontar problemas tales como la pobreza, el desempleo y la malnutrición que inhiben el crecimiento de un movimiento vegetariano próspero. Es para mí un placer presentar al Dr. P. K. Habiendo alcanzado el punto más bajo de mi vida, dolorido por todas partes, tosiendo continuamente e incapaz de comer o socializar con amigos, con la ayuda de un intérprete seguí el consejo de un doctor chino recién llegado. El me habló de una antigua hierba china llamada Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphylum) que había beneficiado a muchos de sus pacientes, y un amigo me trajo una muestra de China para plantarla y cultivarla biológicamente. Tras tomar la infusión de esta hierba diariamente durante varias semanas, tanto yo como los vecinos ancianos con los que la compartí empezamos a sentirnos bien y a poder dormir mejor. Después de seis meses, me sentía menos estresado y empecé a perder algo del peso que previamente había sido incapaz de reducir a pesar de realizar mucho ejercicio. Estaba tan animado con los efectos positivos de la hierba que empecé a recopilar informes, artículos, folletos de investigación y cualquier información que pude encontrar, con la ayuda de amigos que plantaron los planteles que les di y que también se convirtieron en consumidores habituales de la hierba. También remití algunas muestras de la hierba para su aprobación por parte de la Food and Drug Administration (Administración para Alimentos y Medicamentos). Ocho años después, me siento sana, fuerte y energética, capaz de disfrutar la vida de nuevo y de compartir con todo el mundo el incalculable beneficio y la bendición que esta maravillosa hierba me ha traido a mí y a muchos otros. Las maravillas que esta antigua pequeña hierba puede realizar son un recordatorio de los muchos y maravillosos provechos de la naturaleza a la que deberíamos estar por siempre agradecidos. *- **Ms. Leticia M.
