Copias de la revista son proveídas a las principales estaciones de radio y al Departamento de Bioética de la Universidad. Las escuelas frecuentemente piden información sobre ecología y temas relacionados y el grupo hace lo mejor que puede para ayudar. Almuerzos gratuitos son dados a la gente sin los recursos para comprarlos. La revista 'Veganismo' de la Asociación Vegana Española es grandemente apreciada dado que las publicaciones de este tipo en español son muy pocas y están muy separadas. Como una gran parte de la población lee sólo español, la traducción del material originalmente publicado en inglés forma parte importante del trabajo de Naturaleza. En este sentido, material como libros, revistas y videos, nuevos o de segunda mano, son recibidos con agradecimiento. *\[Dirección: Naturaleza, Moreno 2550, 7e H, 7600 Mar del Plata, Argentina.\]* ### Cuba Hay un creciente interés en el vegetarianismo y en temas de salud y ética y Veganismo ha alcanzado un número de profesionales que han contactado a la Asociación Vegana Española (AVE) y expresado su interés. Una vez más, hay un problema económico para obtener material y un cierto número de individuos han recibido libros y revistas del exterior los cuales han sido grandemente apreciados. ### Ecuador En Guayaquil, Trato Etico a los Animales (TEA) está promoviendo campañas en contra de la crueldad hacia los animales y la promoción del vegetarianismo. El presidente del grupo, Luis Escala Castro, miembro de AVE está en constante contacto con la organización española y ha expresado su interés en unirse y trabajar con IVU para promover el vegetarianismo en LatinoAmérica. *\[Dirección : TEA, P. Box 09-06-249, Guayaquil, Ecuador.\]* ### Proyecto LatinoAmerica ![photo](https://ivu.org/images/legacy/history/news/2-97/17-mview.jpg) Un proyecto de largo alcance fundado conjuntamente por IVU y el [Vegetarian Resource Group](http://www.vrg.org/) encontró un número razonable de restaurantes vegetarianos y un gran interés en el vegetarianismo en LatinoAmérica, más orientado hacia la salud y la religión. Fannie Fonseca, una dietista vegetariana, y la voluntaria original para investigar una guía de recursos vegetarianos en LatinoAmérica, mandó más de 500 peticiones a restaurantes, tiendas naturistas e individuos en la mayoría de los países de LatinoAmérica. El 12% de las respuestas que recibió, fueron incluidas en la primera edición de la guía. Mientras visitaba su pueblo natal en Colombia, también recibió una guía de recursos naturales de 270 páginas después de acercarse a varios propietarios de restaurantes. Subsecuentemente, los directores de la VRG, Charles Stahler and Debra Wasserman, junto con un grupo de voluntarios de la salud latinos, han contactado otros comercios vegetarianos y esperan producir futuros números de la guía cubriendo toda LatinoAmérica. Dos folletos españoles han sido producidos para ser distribuidos entre profesionales de la salud, consumidores y grupos de habla española en los Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico y otros países latinos, así como un tercer folleto para adolescentes. Mientras visitaban una Feria del Libro en Monterrey, México, Charles y Debra encontraron muchos libros vegetarianos y 'new age' que parecían haber sido traducidos de originales europeos o norteamericanos. Descubrieron que mucha de la promoción del vegetarianismo estaba siendo hecha por la Gran Fraternidad Universal, una organización que tiene vínculos con restaurantes y compañias de alimentos y tiene una escuela en Monterrey. Sin embargo, la escena latinoamericana en general muestra una carencia de grupos vegetarianos, ambientales o de defensa de los derechos de los animales del tipo de los encontrados en Estados Unidos o Europa. No obstante, existen grupos y en vista del actual clima social y económico y el aumento de la velocidad en las comunicaciones, puede ser que pronto veamos un nivel más alto en este sentido y , esperamos, el establecimiento de asociaciones vegetarianas fuertes en toda LatinoAmérica. \[Cualquier persona interesada en formar/unirse a una asociación vegetariana en Centro o Sudamérica puede también contactar con la IVU para información.
