Her address is :- Jonkvrouw M. J. C. Ortt, Laan van Meerdervoort 383 Den Haag. This was the last IVU Congress for 10 years, due to the war. The report of the next Congress, in Sweden, 1923, included: > General Secretary : Miss Hompes expressed her desire to retire. ..... Miss Hompes proposed the Honorable Miss Ortt of the Hague as her successor and Miss Ortt was duly elected to the office of Honorary General Secretary of the International Vegetarian Union. She accepted the office. The pre-Congress notice for 1926 Congress, in London, England, again named Miss Ortt but now in her new capacity and a new address: > Full particulars may be obtained from Miss M. J. C. Ortt (Secretary of the International Vegetarian Union), Haagweg 71, Delft Holland From the reports of that Congress: > At the Wednesday afternoon session, Miss M. J. C. ORTT, the Honorary General Secretary of the International Vegetarian Union, read a report of the work done since the meeting in Stockholm, in 1923. ... From time to time the Hon. Secretary had issued bulletins containing reports of the activities of affiliated societies, and giving the Hon. Treasurer's statement of the financial position. {extracts from these first IVU Newsletters were printed in the *Vegetarian Messenger*, in the UK and may be added here in due course\] ...
