She is also a devout Buddhist and a busy worker in at least one other organisation. Her husband is a well known surgeon in Colombo and is supportive of her vegetarian and such other interests. I am sure you all will find in her a friendly and kindred soul. \[Unfortunately she does not use email, but I certainly can pass on any messages that you send. My email is almost exclusively used for purposes of our Veg Soc. One of the things I do with the facility is getting the American Vegetarian Newsletter Animal Rights On Line from This email address is being protected from spambots. So please do not hesitate to send any info you deem worthwhile for Mrs M. to have - or for that matter anything connected with ivu and vegetarianism/animal welfare in general.\]  The delegate of Sri Lanka Vegetarian Society to the 33rd World Vegetarian Congress is (Mrs) Bandu Masakorala, SRN (Great Britain). She has been a Theatre Sister in a London Hospital some years back and is now a social activist in Colombo. Bandu is married to a surgeon and is the mother of a son and a daughter. She was Secretary of Sri Lankan Women's Organization for Welfare and Advancement of Women and is curently its Assistant Treasurer. She works in the sections on environment and empowerment in this organization and is due to attend the World Women's Conference in New York in August/September 1999. She is also an Executive Committee member of Servants of the Buddha, a Colombo society dedicated to promotion of knowledge and practice of Buddhism. In Sri Lanka Vegetarian Society she is a life member and sits on its Executive Committee. She is a long time active vegetarian and is looking forward with eagerness to meeting fellow delegates at Chiang Mai. She would like to get an opprtunity to make a short prsentation at the congresss on the vegetarian movement in Sri Lanka.
