JONES. : Mr. WYATT. Mr. LINDSAY. : Mr. BISHOP. Mrs. WYATT. The Committee have pleasure in submitting their third Annual Report. During the year a large amount of propaganda work has been done with good results. The Committee have met regularly to arrange meetings and consider the best ways and means of extending the knowledge of our cause. Public meetings have been held and deputations have visited various Societies and in other ways our principles have been made known. A special effort was made in the Autumn, a jubilee meeting, followed by a series of monthly meetings, being arranged for the season. The jubilee meeting held in the Town Hall consisted of an Entertainment by the Gipsy Choir and Y.M.C.A. String Band, and Mrs. McDouall gave a very inspiriting address. The second meeting of the series was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall and was addressed by Mrs. F. L. Boult on the subject of "The Mission of Martha and Mary to-day," and was listened to with rapt attention, followed up by questions. The third of the series took the form of a Cookery Demonstration given by Mrs. A. B. Bonsor, followed by an Entertainment given by the "Ivy Leaves" and friends, and Dr. Oldfield delivered a most practical address on "Why people die." The result of the meeting has been that a number of recruits have joined our ranks, while we have set many others thinking, which of itself is a good thing, as this must lead some of them to join us. The thanks of the Society are due to all who assisted -at these meetings, and especially to the Reading Gas Company for the use of a gas cooking stove, and for fixing and removing the same free of cost. A Branch of the "Ivy Leaves" has been established under the superintendence of Mrs. Jones, senr., and consists at present of about twenty members. Each Cookery Exhibtion coming to the town has been attended, and literature sold and distributed. The Committee are willing to send deputations to any Society willing to receive them, and knowing the value of Vegetarian diet to Temperance Reform, they cordially invite applications from Temperance Societies for Lantern Lectures, Addresses, etc., which will gladly be given free of charge. The balance sheet shows receipts £14 11s. 7d. and expenditure £14 11s. 4d., leaving a balance in hand of 3d.
