Vegetarian Society Centenary

The Vegetarian Society as an organized Movement, was commenced at Ramsgate on September 30th, 1847, and therefore celebrates its Centenary this year. Special meetings are being held at Glasgow, Stonehouse, and Manchester. The May Meetings are to be held at Glasgow on May 10th, 11th and 12th, and we hope a party from Leeds will be able to attend.

Those who hope to be present are recommended to apply for accommodation to Clydeneuk, Uddingston, Lanarkshire, which is a Vegetarian Guest House about 7 miles from Glasgow-see advertisements in the February Vegetarian Messenger and Health Review.~~ Fuller particulars as to speakers, etc., will be given in due course.

An International Congress is to be held at Wycliffe College, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, from July 29th to August 5th, when each Society affiliated to The Vegetarian Society will be invited to send a representative. Delegates will be present from many countries. The Annual Meetings of The Vegetarian Society are being held at Manchester on October 11th, 12th and 13th.

We heartily congratulate The Vegetarian Society on celebrating its Centenary and hesitate to think in what condition the Vegetarian Movement would have been without the valiant efforts put forth throughout the last 100 years by The Vegetarian Society. We feel sure that the various meetings to be held will arouse the greatest interest and are bound to be highly successful; we hope they will set the pace for more intensive propaganda efforts, in the immediate future.
