3rd Eurpean Vegetarian Congress 1989 - Strasbourg, France

Following the very successful Congress held in Ostend, Belgium in 1987, the European Vegetarian Union will be holding another Congress in mid-August 1989, in Strasbourg, France. Full details are not yet to hand but will be published in the next magazine. Send SAE to the VSUK if you would like details sent to you when they are available.

The accommodation being arranged varies from hotels to student hostels, youth hostels and camping according to taste and pocket, so we hope as many people as possible will be able to attend. There will be a full programme of lectures, workshops and excursions and a choice of vegetarian or vegan catering. Why not come along and meet vegetarians from other countries? BE SURE NOT TO MISS THE EUROPEAN VEGETARIAN CONGRESS Strasbourg, France, 11-16 August 1989
There will be a full programme of workshops and lectures with speakers like the German actress Barbara Rütting and Belgian scientist Jacqueline André. Lectures will have simultaneous translation into French, German and English, and possibly Dutch; the workshops will be for one language at a tiume ie a Dutch workshop, a French workshop, English, German and even Esperanto.
Catering, by a well-known French chef, will give a choice of vegetarian or vegan food and there's an option for people who eat raw foods only.

Marjorie Macdonald has access to a 49-seat Volvo coach with all conveniences, toilets, tea/coffee etc which could be used to take people to the EVU Congress in Strabourg, mid-August. If enough people are interested. She feels that the hardest part is getting there, and this may solve the problem! The French vegetarian society that organised the last European Vegetarian Congress had made a loss on the event and was unable to meet it by itself. Council decided it would join with the Dutch and German vegetarian societies in making a donation towards the deficit as the VSUK is a leading member of the EVU.
