La communauté scientifique a aujourd'hui le pouvoir de modifier la trame intime de la nature, non seulement en transférant des caractéristiques entre plantes, mais aussi en effectuant des croisements entre animaux, plantes et êtres humains. La manipulation génétique, sans limite éthique, a un impact important sur l'environnement des animaux et des plantes. Il viole notre relation avec les règnes de la nature. La plupart des gens pensent que les animaux ont le droit de vivre avec leur structure génétique originale, sans interférence de la part des hommes. Aussi les animaux ne peuvent jamais servir de modèle pour les maladies humaines car il sont beaucoup trop différents. Mais les scientifiques continuent cependant d'essayer, car après tout la transplantation humaine représente un marché de plus de 6 milliards de dollars par an ! ![cochon](https://ivu.org/images/legacy/history/news/2-97/vacaerdo.gif) La biotechnologie a progressé par bonds ces dernières années. Cela représente un saut quantique dans l'exploitation des animaux, autorisant les hommes à transférer des gênes d'une espèce animale dans une autre espèce totalement différente. Les scientifiques et sociétés biotech dans certains principaux pays du monde veulent créer de nouveaux animaux qui produiront plus de viande et de qualité supérieure, plus de laine obtenue plus facilement, et auront des organes transplantables à l'homme. Et cela ne s'arrête pas la : il y a beaucoup de céréales génétiquement modifiées, testées en plein champ aux Etats-Unis et partout dans le monde, qui n'auront pas seulement un effet dévastateur du type "Jurassic Parc" sur l'éco-système mondial, mais pourrait aussi secouer l'économie des pays du Tiers-Monde basée sur l'agriculture dépendant de l'argent des céréales. La manipulation génétique est une science réductrice à une dimension qui ignore la très large dynamique des manifestations de la Vie. La manipulation génétique implique, à la base, l'introduction de gènes contenant de l'ADN (Acide-Désoxyribonucléïque) d'origine 'humaine ou animale dans des cellules de bactéries, levures ou autres animaux. Un des aboutissements est appelé "animal transgénique". Cet animal transgénique ne peut être reproduit ni par sélection naturelle, ni par insémination artificielle. Les femelles "donneuses" reçoivent des injections d'hormones. De plus, des éponges imprégnées d'hormones sont directement introduites dans leurs organes reproducteurs afin de leur faire produire un grand nombre d'ovules. Ce procédé est appelé "super-ovulation". Les ovules sont ensuite inséminés manuellement ou chirurgicalement. Plus tard, les embryons sont récupérés par une nouvelle intervention chirurgicale ou abattage de la mère "donneuse". On leur injecte ensuite un ADN étranger contenant des gênes avec les caractéristiques recherchées. Les embryons sont ensuite transférés, de nouveau par chirurgie, dans des mères "porteuses". Cela nécessite 80 animaux donneurs et receveurs pour produire une seule vache transgénique, quand tout marche bien, ce qui est très rare. Une fois que l'animal transgénique a été créé, sa souffrance commence. Par exemple : des gênes non porcins ont été introduits dans des cochons, produisant des animaux avec des ulcères gastriques, des troubles du foie et du rein, claudication, vue détériorée, perte de coordination, tendance à la pneumonie et au diabète. La recherche en manipulation génétique est le plus souvent effectuée sur les animaux tels que souris, cochon, mouton, ou autres animaux de ferme et les poissons, ainsi que sur les plantes telles que les tomates, le tabac et le maïs. Les végétariens de par le monde se demandent sérieusement si les aliments qu'ils consomment sont vraiment purement végétariens. Dans le cas de la tomate "Flavr Savr", ainsi nommée habituellement, les tomates sont altérées génétiqement en introduisant un gène de poisson, le flet *(poisson plat abondant dans la Baltique)*. Ceci afin de réduire les dégats provoqués par la réfrigération et pour permettre un plus long stockage sur l'étal, les laisser mûrir plus longtemps sur le pied, tout en restant fermes durant la cueillette et le transport, et les faire plus grosses et plus savoureuses. Aucun profane n'est capable de détecter la différence entre une tomate normale et la "Flavr Savr", c'est pourquoi les végétariens authentiques réclament un marquage des tomates OGM. Dans d'autres expériences similaires sur des légumes, des gènes de poulet sont introduits dans les pommes de terre pour renforcer leur résistance aux maladies et augmenter leur durée de stockage et leur taille. Des gènes de souris sont introduits dans le tabac pour réduire les impuretés, ou un gène de luciole pour rendre les feuilles lumineuses la nuit. Certains biotechnologues vont tellement loin, que manipuler les gènes des animaux devient pour eux un amusement. Il pourrait en résulter une créature horrible, simplement pour satisfaire les fantaisies et caprices de quelques-uns. Des scientifiques américains ont créés une souris appelée "souris-cancer" qui a été modifiée génétiquement pour développer un cancer et par conséquence finir par mourir d'une mort lente et douloureuse. La première "souris-cancer" fut élevée en 1981 ; maintenant, 15 plus tard, le remède anticancéreux semble toujours échapper aux scientifiques. La manipulation génétique sur les souris ne s'arrête pas là ! Une souris, spécialement créée sans système immunitaire, a été utilisée pour développer sans rejet des organes humains tels que des oreilles, extérieurement et même intérieurement. L'absence de système immunitaire assurait que le corps de la souris ne rejetterai pas les tissus humains. ![souris de laboratoire](https://ivu.org/images/legacy/history/news/2-97/24-oouse.jpg) | Les scientifiques réalisent des moules d'aspect identique aux organes humains, tels qu'une oreille, avec des fibres de polyester biodégradable ou d'autres polymères. Ensuite, ils transfèrent des cellules osseuses et musculaires sur la forme, puis transplantent le tout sur la souris. Quand l'organe est formé, il est prélevé de la souris, qui bon gré mal gré, tente de survivre après que l'oreille ait été retirée. De la même façon, avec de tels polymères, les scientifiques font pousser des foies, de la peau, du cartilage, de l'os, des uretères, des valves cardiaques, des tendons, des intestins, des vaisseaux et des tissus pulmonaires. Mais si l'idée d'inverser l'expérience (remplacer les souris par des êtres humains) était envisagée, les gens crieraient au blasphème. Il n'y a aucune pensée pour les animaux impliqués. L'extension à laquelle ces expériences aboutiront est tout à fait incertaine. Un changement se produira seulement lorsque les scientifiques reconnaîtront aux animaux le droit de vivre une vie normale, et sans que l'homme ne touche à leurs gènes. Des cochons sont aussi transformés génétiquement afin que leurs organes puissent être tranplantables sur les humains. Les premiers cochons transgéniques ont été produits en 1985. Les scientifiques ont réussi à faire fabriquer les organes nécessaires dans des cochons capables de produire des cellules humaines. Ces protéines devraient, ils l'espèrent, tromper le système immunitaire humain lors d'une transplantation d'organes et ainsi éviter toute réaction, par le receveur, aux tissus étrangers. Un autre exemple : des moutons ont reçu des injections d'hormones modifiées génétiquement pour provoquer la chute spontanée de leur laine afin de produire des moutons appelés "auto-tondeurs". Cela a lieu en Australie où, malheureusement pour les moutons, le climat est principalement chaud et ensoleillé. Ceci a entrainé chez certains moutons un taux d'avortement plus élevé. Quand cela s'arrêtera donc ? Les moutons clonés de la montagne Welsh sont une preuve vivante que la vie peut-être créée sans sperme. Un scientifique de l'Institut Rosalin les a créés en fusionnant une cellule développée en laboratoire avec un ovule vide de brebis par l'intermédiaire d'une impulsion électrique. Imaginez voir grandir un mouton dans un plat de laboratoire ! Ironiquement, si l'on considère faire la même chose avec les êtres humains, les scientifiques ne trouvent pas cela éthique. Dans une autre expérience bizarre, un scientifique indien Maharashtra, de l'Institut de Recherche Nimbalkar (Phaltan), a créé par insémination artificielle un animal avec une tête de chêvre et un corps de vache. Cet animal engraisse plus et plus rapidement, et produit ainsi plus de viande. Les scientifiques clament qu'ils peuvent et qu'ils feront des animaux modifiés génétiquement afin de guérir des maladies humaines. Cela fait près de 20 ans que la recherche transgénique existe et qu'elle n'a toujours pas aidé à guérir une seule maladie, tandis que des maladies telles que : diabètes, cécité, malformations et cancers (entre autres) ont toutes été provoquées sur les animaux sujets de ces expériences ridicules. La manipulation génétique est arrivée à un point tel qu'elle est le symbole du consumérisme devenu insensé.
