France* - **Ylva Oehrn**, *Stockholm*, s'est jointe à nous de Härnösand à Stockholm, 9 jours. - 2 jeunes filles. **J**, *de Mariefred*, et **Katarina Lindberg**, *de Umea*, se sont jointes à nous de Kiruna à Umea, 8 jours. Les participants étaient âgés de 18, 20, 27, 53 (2) et 78 ans. Karin Wingqvist était au volant de la voiture accompagnatrice. Kinésithérapeute de profession, elle aurait pu nous soigner en cas de problème. **Comment tout a commencé.** Végétarien depuis ma plus tendre enfance, et devenu végétalien et fruitarien depuis de nombreuses années, je voulais prouver qu'une alimentation constituée de fruits frais, baies, noix, graines et crudités serait suffisante, non seulement pour les activités de tous les jours, mais aussi pour un effort assez sérieux sur une longue période. Mon choix se fixa sur un parcours à vélo auquel je pensais depuis de nombreuses années, de Kiruna à Stockholm. C'est un grand trajet à travers les plus agréables régions que la Suède peut offrir, de bonnes routes, des ascensions et descentes de montagnes, dont certaines assez raides. Nous eûmes bien sûr aussi de longues étendues plates, la route sinuant le long des rives des lacs et de la Mer Baltique, courant le long de puissantes rivières ou de petits ruisseaux, nous donnant de nombreuses opportunités de nager et de nous rafraîchir. Notre alimentation était composée de fruits frais, baies, noix et graines pour le petit-déjeuner et le déjeuner, chacun les achetant dans les magasins et marchés sur le trajet. Au dîner nous ajoutions de la salade et des crudités, particulièrement à feuilles vertes, des carottes etc. Comme boisson nous buvions seulement de l'eau fraîche. L'information de ce voyage a été publiée dans beaucoup de journaux et bulletins végétariens, végétaliens et fruitariens partout dans le Monde. Beaucoup d'associations ont aussi publié l'information sur leurs pages Internet. Environ 150 personnes, dont beaucoup de pays par-delà les mers ont demandé plus de détails sur ce parcours. **Petit groupe** "Les grands singes dont la dentition est presque identique à celle de l'homme, vivent principalement de (cru!! SDL) fruits, graines, noix et autres variétés nutritives similaires et de savoureuse texture élaborées par le royaume végétal. La profonde similitude des dentitions des grands singes et des hommes démontre que l'homme était depuis ses origines adapté à manger le fruit des arbres dans le paradis." *Richard Owen (1804-1892) Naturaliste anglais*Il y eut plusieurs raisons pour expliquer le faible nombre de participants. Beaucoup ne pouvaient disposer des presque 4 semaines nécessaires à ce voyage, d'autres ne pouvaient supporter le coût du voyage et les frais de séjour, d'autres pensaient que la distance était trop importante et finalement beaucoup me dirent qu'ils voulaient également manger des aliments cuits, tels que pommes de terre, pâtes, riz, soupes, pain, céréales, etc. Ils doutaient que des fruits et crudités les nourriraient suffisamment pour un voyage aussi pénible. Je suis persuadé que ces personnes n'ont jamais essayé de vivre seulement d'aliments crus sur une période importante. Nous savons tous que les coureurs de marathon se remplissent avant la course de beaucoup de spaghettis, macaronis et autres aliments riches en hydrates de carbone, pour être assez forts pour terminer la course. Le départ fut fixé au mardi 15 juillet 1997. Nous nous réunimes la veille à Kirana et passâmes la nuit à l'Auberge de Jeunesse. A 8 H le lendemain matin nous démarrâmes notre long périple à vélo. Nous transportâmes toutes nos affaires dans des sacoches de chaque côté des roues arrières et avant. Nous avions chacun entre 12 et 20 kg de bagages. J'avais réservé des places dans des Auberges de Jeunesse et des campings tout au long du parcours. Nous avons respecté ce planning , nous arrivions aux hébergements selon le programme prévu. Le trajet le plus long d'une journée fut de 129 km et le plus court, le dernier jour à Stockholm, de 27 km. Nous avons parcouru un total de 1411 km avec une moyenne de 70 à 80 km par jour. La vitesse moyenne par jour la plus lente fut d'environ 14 km/h et la plus rapide de 20 km/h. Nous avons pris plaisir à traverser le pays avec les forêts, les champs, les montagnes, les lacs et la Mer Baltique. Nous eûmes le temps d'effectuer quelques petites visites dans des villages et des villes particulièrement intéressants. **Pas de problème** ![Arne](https://ivu.org/images/legacy/history/news/evu/news973/05arne.jpg) *Arne Winqquist pendant le voyage*Tout se passa très bien. Pas d'accident, pas d'éclatement, pas la moindre vis de bicyclette ne fut perdue. Nous fûmes chanceux avec le temps. Pendant ces 19 jours nous avons eu une journée de petite pluie, trois jours de forte pluie, 13 jours de soleil radieux et deux jours partiellement nuageux. Nous ne nous sommes jamais arrêtés pour chercher un abri lors des journées pluvieuses, nous avons juste continué trempés. Ce fut en fait un dur voyage , mais chacun de nous se sentit mieux à la fin qu'au départ. Nous dormions bien et longtemps. Même si nous étions fatigués à la fin de la journée, nous avions assez d'énergie pour nous distraire à un concert ou avec un film en soirée. Après une bonne nuit de sommeil, nous nous levions en excellente forme et prêts pour le nouveau périple du jour. Nous avons tous été très satisfaits de ce voyage. Nous avons eu une très bonne couverture médiatique sur toute la Suède. Des interviews radio et presse, et une pleine page avec photos dans le journal local de la région où je vis. A l'arrivée dans le centre de Stockholm le samedi 2 Août à 11h45, nous avons été rejoints par les familles, les amis, les présidents de l'Association Vegan de Suède, Ulla Troëng et l'Association Végétarienne Suédoise, Monica Engstroem, et la presse. L'événement finit par un repas au célèbre restaurant végétarien du centre ville de Stockholm : "Oertagaarden". Nous dégustâmes de fins légumes frais et des fruits et eûmes autant de plaisir pour ce dernier repas que pour le premier, 19 jours plus tôt, et ainsi que tous ceux pris dans l'intervalle. **Conclusion.** Qu'avons-nous appris de ce parcours ? Comme je l'ai dit au début, nous voulions prouver qu'un régime composé de fruits, de baies, de noix, de graines et de crudités serait suffisant non seulement pour les activités de tous les jours, mais aussi pour des efforts assez sérieux sur une longue période. Notre petit groupe totalisant 6 personnes a prouvé que cela était possible. Bien sûr il y a beaucoup de sportifs dans le monde qui, en vivant selon une alimentation, végétarienne sont devenus champions. Nous voulions montrer la valeur d'une nourriture végétale fraîche et crue, constituée d'environ 70 à 80 % (50-50% SDL) de fruits frais, noix et graines, le reste étant des légumes frais, crus. C'est l'opposé de la plupart des menus végétariens ou végétaliens comportant beaucoup d'aliments cuisinés à presque chaque repas. A en juger par l'augmentation de notre bien-être durant ce voyage nous avons largement réussi ! Ce fut une initiative privée, sans but lucratif, lancée par moi-même, sans l'assistance d'aucun sponsor ou donation d'aucune sorte. Les participants ont payé eux-mêmes leur nourriture et leur hébergement, de même que leur voyage à Kiruna depuis Stockholm. Mon souhait est qu'un test similaire soit réalisé à plus grande échelle, organisé par une ou plusieurs associations végétariennes ou vegans, avec plus de participants, sur une plus grande distance et avec des pentes plus escarpées. Ce test devrait, bien entendu, être réalisé avec un suivi médical régulier, montrant en particulier l'état de santé et la condition physique depuis le départ jusqu'à l'arrivée.
