La dieta se estima puede estar vinculada al 30-70% de los cánceres (Doll, 1990). Algunos cánceres, como el de colon, mama y próstata, están claramente relacionados con la dieta (Cummings y Bingham, 1998). Willet (1990) llevó a cabo un estudio a más de 88.000 mujeres con edades comprendidas entre los 34 y los 59 años. Otros cánceres Diversos estudios señalan que los vegetarianos también son menos propensos a padecer otros tipos de cáncer.
