I hope you will forgive us. I feel confident in saying that everyone's priorities changed on 9/11/01. On that fateful day the whole world took a deep breath and wondered why. In this issue, we get some reassuring words about the human spirit from Rae Sikora, who asks us to become examples of the peace and compassion we wish to see in the world. Following this is a philosopher's viewpoint from Claude Pasquini. Next, Jim Oswald from IPBN chimes in with a beautiful tribute to the heroic produce growers in the U.S. that toil day in and day out so that Americans can have food on their tables. Thanks Jim for reminding us. We have introduced a new section to the IVU magazine: *Project Profiles*. Our first subjects are the Oxford Vegetarians from the UK. We welcome other groups to submit their project profile for inclusion in future IVU magazines. Finally, this edition of the IVU magazine will coincide with the 35th International Vegetarian Congress held in Scotland. It promises to be a wonderful event in all aspects: food, sight seeing, information, and fun. You are probably reading this magazine at the Congress. From all of us at IVU, I hope in some small way we are making your world a better place. - *The Editor* **International Vegetarian Union News** Editor: [Paul Turner](https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html?view=article&id=4367:members-council-paul-turner&catid=208) - This email address is being protected from spambots. Material published does not necessarily reflect the views of the editor or the policy of the International Vegetarian Union. A note on this archive. The history section of this website is drawn from a body of legacy content originally compiled by John Davis, former manager of the International Vegetarian Union. It represents his curation of historical material, and in places includes passages written by him directly. Over the years, the IVU website has migrated between several different hosting servers. In the course of these migrations, a number of PDF files were unfortunately lost, and **some links to PDF documents may no longer function**. Where this is the case, we have chosen to leave the original link text in place, as it may itself carry information of historical value. - Hits: 743 ## Schema ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu/hv-general-news-magazine.html?view=article&id=5491:news-2002-index&catid=225","url":"https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu/hv-general-news-magazine.html?view=article&id=5491:news-2002-index&catid=225","name":"IVU News, 2002","inLanguage":"en","isPartOf":[{"@id":"https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html#archive"},{"@id":"https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu/hv-general-news-magazine.html"}],"publisher":{"@id":"https://ivu.org/#organization"},"description":"IVU News 2002 Novajxleteroj - Boletines - Nyhetsbrev - Boletins - Bulletins - Rundschreiben - Buletine periodice - Novosti Inside this issue Some items in this issue were already on the IVU website,…"}]} ``` ```json { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "BreadcrumbList", "itemListElement": [ { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 1, "name": "Home", "item": "https://ivu.org" }, { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 2, "name": "History of IVU", "item": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html" }, { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 3, "name": "History of the Vegetarian Societies", "item": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html?view=category&id=46" }, { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 4, "name": "news", "item": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html?view=category&id=221" }, { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 5, "name": "2002", "item": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html?view=category&id=225" }, { "@type": "ListItem", "position": 6, "name": "IVU News, 2002", "item": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html" } ] } ``` ```json { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Article", "mainEntityOfPage": { "@type": "WebPage", "@id": "https://ivu.org/history-of-ivu.html" }, "headline": "IVU News, 2002", "description": "IVU News, 2002: IVU News 2002 Novajxleteroj - Boletines - Nyhetsbrev - Boletins - Bulletins - Rundschreiben - Buletine periodice - Novosti Inside this issue Some items in this issue were already on the IVU website, and are linked.
