Sunday, August 24

NOTE: Several of the events of the second week of the Congress consist of professional feature-length films with themes of considerable interest value for vegetarians. Due to the special arrangements made for the renting of these films to a non-profit organization (NAVS), we are permitted only to admit Congress Registrants to these special events. We regret that no provision can be made for single admissions in this case.


TWO STUDIO "STILLS" are seen above, of actor J. S. Casshyap in the role of Mahatma Gandhi, in the 20th Century Fox movie, Nine Hours To Rama. These photos, given by Shri Casshyap to NAVS President, Dinshah on an India lecture tour, illustrate the actor's striking physical resemblance to the vegetarian Mahatma.

CLEAR SAILING - Samantha Eggar and friends steer a fun-filled course in the Reverence for Life oriented film, Dr. Dolittle.

  • DR. SCHWEITZER (film)
    - with Pierre Fresnay, Raymond Roleau, and Marie Winter. In keeping with the Reverence for Life spirit of ethical vegetarianism, and in honor of this centenial year of the birth of the great vegetarian humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Albert Schweitzer, we are pleased to offer this film.
  • THE COAT (film) - A touching dramatization of a young lady's awakening awareness of Reverence for Life.

  • COUNTRY/WESTERN AND BLUEGRASS MUSIC JAMBOREE - IN THE MAIN GYM. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. (Nominal admission charge for non-registrants of Congress; free for Registrants)

Monday, August 25

10:00 A.M. - 12 NOON

  • QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION - An opportunity to have any further questions regarding the topics of the first week, answered by experts. - Hauck Auditorium

7:30 - 9:30 P.M.

  • NINE HOURS TO RAMA (full-color feature film)
    - with Horst Buchholz, Josef Ferrer, and featuring Shri J. S. Casshyap as Mahatma Gadhi. - Hauck Auditorium

Tuesday, August 26

9:00 A.M. - 12 NOON

  • DR. DOLITTLE (Academy -Award Winner : full-color film) Vegetarian physician Dolittle (whimsically played by Rex Harrison) would rather communicate with animals than people, a fact that gets him into trouble/ Eventually, he embarks on a fantastic sea expedition. His companions are a carefree Irishman (Anthony Newley), a small boy, and a pretty stowaway (the latter played by Samanthat Eggar, who became a vegetarian due to her participation in the making of this wonderful film!). Some musical hignlights: Talk to the Animals, The Vegetarian, and Why Do We treat Animals Like Animals?

  • FRANCIS OF ASSISI (full color film)
    - with Bradford Dillman in an inspiring portrayal of the gentle vegetarian Patron Saint of animals; Dolores hart, Stuart Whitman, Pedro Armedariz. - Hauck Auditorium

Wednesday, August 27

  • THE GREATEST ADVENTURE (full-color film) A documentaryon Natural Hygiene, a comprehensive natural-living method including strict vegetarianism. - Hauck Auditorium

  • ATHENA (full-color musical comedy) - with Jane Powell, Debbie Reynolds, Edmund Purdom, Vic Damone, Louis Calhern. Light hearted and romantic spoof of the vegetarian scene in Southern California. Eddie and Vic are pursuing sisters Jane and Debbie, whose family runs a veggie health-food store; but no dice unless they change their ways of living... and eating. - Hauck Auditorium
