Regional Vegetarian Congresses

Europe 1983

From the minutes of the IVU General Meeting in Neu-Ulm, Germany, August 1982, in the 'Regional Secretaries Reports':

Mr Christopher Fettes had organised a meeting of European vegetarian societies in Luxembourg attended by representatives of seven countries with a view to developing a co-operative activity in Europe. In addition he had circulated a newsletter and questionnaire to twenty one countries. He reported that the Italian Vegetarian Society had agreed to organise a European Congress from 25th - 30th August, 1983 at Perugia.

A report in the VSUK magazine about the 1982 World Congress stated: "A European Regional Congress is to be held in Italy from 25-30 August 1983."

From The Vegetarian (Vegetarian Society UK) March/April 1983:

Perugia is a very attractive old town close to Assisi in the Central Appenine Mountains. Rome and Florence are both within day visit distance of Perugia.
