The Middle East Veg Group Stand drew great interest with an attractive Photo Exhibition in the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Exhibition - the Organic product show held from 7th to 9th December 2009 at the Hall 7 of World Trade Centre Exhibition Halls in Dubai, UAE.
Meveg is a not-for-profit focus group supporting a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle. The group encourages increased consumption of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts and dry fruits in daily diets for green, light and healthy living amongst middle east residents.
People who came for the show were treated to a educational Photo feature on “Why Veg”. Many people took a health pledge at the stand and asked for the 7-Day Veg Meal Plan from a MEVEG nutritionist.
“It is high time we turned our vegetable side dishes to our main dish on the plate today. We are what we eat. From both health and environment angle today 'Being Veg is Cool', says Sandhya Prakash, The Founder-Director of MEVEG. We have members from all communities whose basic aim is to have a green, light and healthy life.”
Urging to make changes, Sandhya added “Human actions have deviated from the harmony of nature. We use and waste too much food, fuel, land and other resources. We pollute the air land and water. We are destroying the planet at an alarming rate. When a fruit ripens, it changes its colour and scent to ask us to take it. By taking it we help the tree scatter the seeds. This is kindness to both the human and the tree. This is harmony.”
The aim of the volunteer run group is to create an awareness of Veg lifestyle for wholesome health, environment protection and animal welfare perspective to make this planet a better place for all of us.
