I found that most conventional hot fudge sauces contain milk or
cream, and frustrated at not being able to have a sundae, i made
up my own. enjoy!
- 1/2 cup unbleached natural sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (Trader Joe's sells non-dairy versions)
- 1/8 cup water
- 1/4 cup non-dairy or soy creamer
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
heat sugar, cocoa powder and water in a sauce pan at medium heat
for about 2 minutes.
add non-dairy/soy creamer, mix well until all solids are dissolved.
if it seems too thick, add more water. bring to a bubble (don't
let it boil or you could risk burning it!).
remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
can be served immediately over ice cream (it's wonderful on tofutti
ice cream sandwiches!) in place of hot fudge, or cooled to serve
with cakes and brownies.
